I must take up the cudgels for RLC, if you say your toon does nothing you do nothing! This world isn’t designed for passive entertainment, it’s rather the platform to socialize in the ways you like or even have virtual sex experiences. The possibility to download the client and become a basic member for free is good, other games require you to pay from the start, here you have the option to see for yourself if you like it or not. I like it, especially meeting new people and exploring my fantasies.

This isn’t a sex game, really. It aims to be a user-driven environment where players create and share content for each other. Human nature and the Internet being what they are, however, its difficult to explore ten minutes without running into something sexual — and if you go look for it, there’s an insane amount available. This is completely intended for people who pay. The only thing a basic member can do is run around and look at buildings and people. It doesn’t do anyone any good to download this without the intention of paying. you can’t even add people to your friends list without having to pay. There is no experience for the basic user everything is for the vip members to participate in. I wasted my time with this! Don’t waste yours!

Red Light Center is a waste of time and money. Its nothing more then a chat room with graphics. While your toon stands there dancing or doing nothing you can talk to other players, period, that’s it. They tell you there is more but I wasted the 20 bucks to find out there isn’t anything else. Its just a glorified chat room!

I’ve played Sociolotron since it’s beta days over 4 years ago. It can be very addicting, friendships made, loves lost it has it all. Oh and you can kill monsters and be productive if that’s what you desire. The graphics aren’t the greatest, but the social atmosphere makes up for all that. So if you want sex, monsters and the ability to level your character, Socio as we like to call it is the game for you!

OK, so after my disappointment with Red Light Center I moved on to Second Life. I believe this to be worse. I guess the game is great, if you’re a modder? But for those that aren’t computer savvy, you’re kinda left with not much to do. My gripe isn’t with the environment, which can be very surreal at times, but for the community. A vast wasteland of player created architecture lays dormant before you when you finally exit the tutorial. It took me nearly 30 minutes to actually find another player. But I wasn’t alone. While I understand and respect that Sociolotron is entirely the fruit of one man’s efforts, it leaves a lot to be desired. Graphics: Very primitive. The virtual world is crudely rendered and confusing. Many areas look so similar to each other its easy to become lost. The avatars also leave a lot to be desired. Interface: The GUI is incredibly confusing and non-intuitive. Community: The one thing I did like about Sociolotron is the player community. A surprisingly large number of people play this game. They’re all friendly and helpful.

Very small but passionate community. Dated look, but game play is radically different from everything else, much more than sex, but there’s plenty of that.
